A hilltop monument honoring independence-era figure El Pípila, best known to visitors for its wide view over Guanajuato's colorful center. You can walk up or arrive by funicular.

Visitor note: Go when the light is clear and give yourself time for the approach. The view helps the city make sense: the bowl-shaped hills, compact center, tunnels, churches, and colorful houses all line up from above.
